SpatzAI – Helping Workplace Teams Play Fair

What is the Problem?

Excerpt from the North West Star 10/11/2024, Canberra, Australia:
Workplace culture at Parliament House has ‘a way to go

“A further 33 cases in the nine-month timeframe were about bullying.
… while there were 90 cases of workplace conflict being managed.”

Has anyone ever thought it better to address and resolve toxic conflicts before they escalated to reportable cases? Logical right? We are working on a proactive approach to conflicts that doesn’t try to prevent them or deal with them when they are toxic but addresses them when they are minor spats.

What is the Solution?

SpatsAI, helps workplace teams play fair.

The SpatzChat app and platform make it easy for team members to identify and address unfair behavior during disagreements or tense interactions before they can escalate into reportable incidents.

SpatzAI empowers team members to step up when overly dogmatic, know-it-all or bullying rhetoric disrupts collaboration. It helps adjust the language from: “WTF, that’ll NEVER work!!”, to: “I don’t think that will work because of the following reasons…”

SpatzChat also helps categorize the three conflict and their accountability levels. It enables the Spatz AI to leverage large language data so VCs and organizations can more accurately predict team success or failure based on their Spatz Behavior Data.

Integrating with team platforms like Slack, SpatzAI provides a structured process for team members to have more objective conversations, creating a fairer, more inclusive environment for innovation.

How Does Spatz Work?

For context think, a soccer referee using her:
0. Whistle,
1. Official warning,
2. Yellow card, and
3. Red card

  • Phase 0 (whistle). – Verbal Caution (Pause): If a team member notices overly dogmatic or know-it-all bullying rhetoric ie. raised tone or volume etc. she can start with a simple, verbal Caution, asking the infringing person to reconsider how they deliver their point. This step is informal and encourages a respectful tone.
  • Phase 1 (Official Warning). – Official Caution (Spat): If the verbal is ignored or challenged, the team member can issue an official “Caution” through the SpatzChat app. This records the behavior, alerting the offender and requesting that they acknowledge it. This step helps maintain accountability and transparency.
  • Phase 2. (Yellow Card) – Objection (Dispute): If still unresolved, the issue escalates to an “Objection”, and by using the SpatzChat app prompts the offending team member to provide a simple apology, helping diffuse the situation and encouraging reflection.
  • Phase 3 (Red Card). – Stop (Conflict): If still unresolved, a “Stop” is issued, and the conflict is then automatically posted on the Spatz Team and AI Review (STAIR) platform. Here, both team members and AI analyze the issue, providing feedback and proposing a resolution. This phase requires a heartfelt acceptable apology and even a vote can take place, if necessary.

This structured approach ensures that disagreements are handled respectfully and effectively, reducing tension and enabling more productive conversations across the team. The data collected also allows the Spatz AI to predict teams’ potential future success or failure.

Why Does it Work?

SpatzAI is effective because first and foremost it is simple enough for team members to agree to participate.
It allows members to address micro-conflicts before they have a chance to escalate. Guiding team members through a structured, step-by-step process, it ensures that disruptive behaviors are called out constructively and respectfully. This prevents misunderstandings from festering, creating a safe environment where everyone feels heard.

The process also encourages accountability. With clear steps for acknowledgment and resolution, team members are held responsible for their actions in a way that builds trust. Plus, involving a team-assist review in advanced stages brings in community support and more transparent, balanced insights, making resolutions fairer and less personal.

Finally, SpatzAI helps shift team culture toward more open, objective conversations by course-correcting overly dogmatic or bullying rhetoric to be more constructive. This not only improves collaboration but also creates an inclusive environment where ideas can flow more freely. All these factors combine to reduce tension and enhance productivity, helping teams maintain a positive, innovative atmosphere.
