Escalate the STAIR Way

Escalate the STAIR Way (Spatz Team & AI Review platform)

It starts the way it often does, quietly. A team member has an issue with her manager. Maybe he cut her off in a meeting. Maybe he dismissed her work publicly or was overly dogmatic in his curt response. Whatever it was, it didn’t sit right. But what can she do? Raise it directly and risk being labelled difficult? Or stay silent and let the resentment grow?

She hesitates. Because like most of us, she learned early, maybe as a kid, not to challenge authority. Back then, it was safer to keep our big trap shut than question a parent’s behavior. Fast forward a few decades, and the same instinct kicks in when we feel something’s wrong at work. The power imbalance might look more subtle now, but it still shapes how we react.

The truth is, most organizations don’t have a safe, structured way to escalate concerns, especially those that involve someone higher up. Managing up, and making complaints feels risky. HR can feel distant or even conflicted. So we either fume silently or explode eventually, neither of which helps anyone.

That’s where SpatzAI comes in.

The STAIR Way (our Spatz Team & AI Review platform) offers a structured, transparent process to address micro-conflicts early and fairly. It starts with a simple verbal Caution, can escalate to an Formal Caution, using the Spatz Chat app, then a Formal Objection, and, if still needed, moves to a Formal Stop, where the conflict is automatically posted onto the Spatz team and AI review platform to be analyzed transparently and resolved fairly.

It’s not about undermining authority, or blaming per se, it’s about protecting fairness and getting objectionable behavior acknowledged and resolved. It’s a way for teams to evolve past old dynamics and finally handle friction with clarity, transparency and proportion.

Because maybe it’s time we learned how to speak up, and how to listen, together.
