It’s the Review Process, Stupid!

It’s the Review Process, Stupid!

Organizations need to hear this, in my opinion; No more being mister nice guy.

It is time for the team and manager to be held to account for any misbehavior.

But what fundamentally makes a behavioural accountability system work?

Is it the rules? The leadership? The consequences?

I think the answer lies in something often overlooked: the review process.

SpatzAI is built around a simple principle: Accountability Before Authority.

Any team member can issue a 0. Verbal Caution when they consider someone’s behaviour objectionable, regardless of rank.

The recipient can acknowledge it, challenge it or ignore it.

If unresolved, the person issuing the caution can choose to resolve the matter or escalate it through a proportional, accountability structured process.

Eventually, (and all team members understand this) an unresolved dispute can reach an independent Team + AI Review, where both parties’ actions are assessed against their agreed Charter.

Neither party gets to be the final judge of their own behaviour.

But here’s the interesting paradox:

The more credible the review process, the less frequently it may need to be used.

Why?

Because when everyone knows their behaviour could eventually be reviewed by their peers, there is an incentive to acknowledge any mistakes or misbehaviour, accept fair objections and resolve issues early.

Not through coercion, but through agreed accountability and the prospect of transparent peer review.

The hypothesis is simple:

A credible review process may prevent more conflicts than it ever needs to adjudicate.

And that’s what SpatzAI aims to test.
