It usually starts small.
A sharp tone in a meeting.
An eye roll when someone shares an idea.
A “joke” that doesn’t quite land.
Everyone notices, but no one says anything.
“It’s not worth making a fuss.”
“They didn’t mean anything by it.”
“It’s just who they are…”
And so, tension quietly builds, trust erodes, and what was once a cohesive team begins to fracture.
We can keep encouraging people to “speak up,” but the real question is how should a team member fairly respond in that very moment when someone crosses their line?
When a colleague talks down to someone in the team, unfairly dismisses their idea, or hides behind a dogmatic “I’m just being honest” or “I am right, your are wrong”, thinking and defense. What should happen next?
It amazes me that nearly every leadership expert preaches the importance of addressing poor behavior early, yet few, if any, offer a clear, consistent process for doing so, most rely on a haphazard approach that rarely works.
That’s the gap I’ve spent years developing SpatzAI to fill.
SpatzAI enables team members to address and resolve misbehavior in real time, using a simple, structured process:
0️⃣ Verbal Caution (conversation is paused) – signals that something felt off – if ignored, use…
1️⃣ Formal Caution (using the SpatzChat app) – beginning the documentation process for both.
2️⃣ Formal Objection (using the SpatzChat app) – if ignored, formally raise the concern.
3️⃣ Formal Stop & Review – if still unresolved, the issue goes to a transparent team and AI review platform.
It’s uses ultra-simple nudges in practice, yet remarkably absent in organizations.
And perhaps this is the real holy grail of team culture, A way that we can all acknowledge we will blow a fuse on occasion when tensions flare, but having a fair system that helps us cool it, learn from it, and move on with even a stronger connection.
Because silence may feel safer in the moment, but we believe that it’s the biggest threat to fairness in teams.
