I believe that I may have found a way to simplify the complexity of human conflict resolution, all distilled into a single concept, OBJECTING, broken down into three phases rather than lodging anonymous complaints.

In any group, people naturally have different ideas and interests—conflicting ideas and conflicting interests. I believe that to navigate these differences, we use conversation. Ideally, conversations help us converge—find common ground, share ideas, and grow together.

However, I also believe conversations can also be gamed. ie. Instead of convergence, people can try to convert others for their own purpose—using dogma instead of dialogue. And when that happens, complaints escalate and real conflicts can eventually emerge.

SpatzAI is designed to address this. It helps us make sure we stay in convergence mode during our conversations. And when the temptation to convert—to be dogmatic—crops up, SpatzAI guides us through three phases of objection: Caution, Object, and Stop.

In a nutshell, I’d call it “progressive precision.” We see approaching micro-conflicts incrementally, using an appropriate response at each stage, rather than overreacting or overwhelming the situation. It ensures we’re precise, and deliberate, using an agreed level for intervening,—like using a well-aimed tap instead of a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Example: The Spatz charter agreement recommends using a mild 0) Verbal Caution, when we feel someone is being overly dogmatic, if acknowledged we move on, but if challenged or ignored we use
the Spatz Chat App to begin documenting our spat, lodging an 1) Official Caution, and if still, unresolved one can up the ante to an 2) Official Objection.

We believe that these three phases, when agreed to, create a system where everyone in the team is encouraged to share their opinions while using a measured level to object to dogmatic delivery when it arises, keeping the group aligned on mutual respect and growth.
