I am not from the safety industry but I seem to be continually drawn into this area.
I’ve only just caught on that the following mantra is probably what most safety officers in the industry use, ie
SPEAK UP FOR SAFETY!
But what if we need safety precautions and protections to encourage us to speak up? ie
SAFETY FOR SPEAKING UP!
That is Psychological Safety, which is all the rage at the moment.
The problem with Psychological Safety, as I see it, is that it is becoming such a cliché and not many seem to realize that they are only describing or identifying the problem rather than actually solving it.
Here is my proposed solution for providing the safety to speak up and speak out:
- SAFETY PRECAUTIONS use a one-on-one intervention procedure with an offender, if or when we cop any type of abuse or cynicism for speaking up.
Object123 - SAFETY PROTECTIONS use a dispute network of peers, to help review our dispute, if we cannot resolve our one-on-one intervention with offender.
