Pre-functional – Functional – Dysfunctional

I believe that the best time to setup guardrails for how the members of an organization should behave to maintain ideal functionality is from the start, pre-functional; ie. before there is a “functional” organization. It should be the foundation that the organization is built on, not an add-on when things are going, or for when things start to go wrong.

No need for diagnosis for the problem that will occur, as we already know what they are. ie People will get personal and play the man not the ball at times when disagreements occur. So, we are going to need an intervention for WHEN that occurs, with the conversation becoming heated and the tone and volume rises. Infractions WILL occur, civility will be eroded on occasion and if you don’t know that by now then you don’t know humans!
